minor problem on Macintosh Quadra 950 computers.  This extension does
nothing on other Macintosh computers. The problem addressed only manifests
itself under certain conditions.  When a color monitor is connected to the
on-board video circuitry and the Monitors control panel is set to millions
of colors, certain color manipulation commands may not work in some
graphics application programs. The problem is not destructive.  Your
machine will not crash and data will not be corrupted.  Installing the 950
Color Addition corrects the problem.

offering an API for ARA -- we couldn't resist creating a small "applet" to
bridge ARA to Frontier script writing. As a result, your scripts can now

 A small application that finds alias creators with one step. Alias Finder
was written to provide a simple way to find the file that an alias file
refers to.  It performs this in the most natural way possible:  it asks the
System 7 Finder to show the file.  It does this by sending an Apple Event
to the Finder which was specifically created to do this. To have Alias
Finder find an original file, merely drop the alias file on to Alias Finder
within the Finder.  Alias Finder will run and then exit, and the Finder
will open thefolder where the original file is and select that file.  Alias
Finder can also find folders and volumes. Fast and Effective. Essential for

 AppDisk 1.6.1 - AppDisk is a ramdisk. What is a ramdisk? Its a piece of
software that lets you use some extra RAM memory as a really fast hard
disk. The disk will appear on your desktop just like any other hard disk,
and you can copy files to it just like normal. The only difference between
a ramdisk and a normal disk is that when you turn the power off to your
Mac, or restart, the contents of the ramdisk are lost. This is one reason
AppDisk has several options to automatically save a copy of the ramdisk
contents onto your hard disk. The difference between AppDisk and most other
ramdisk programs is that the AppDisk gets the memory for its disk from its
application memory. Requires System 7.

 AppleTalk On 1.0 - This is an application extension ('appe') which does
almost nothing but idle until it is quit, which usually only happens when
you Restart or Shutdown your Macintosh. At this time, AppletalkOn will
examine the current state of Appletalk and turn it on. It will also save
the state of AppleTalk and optionally restore that state when you boot up
next time. The reason this extension is necessary is that, starting with
System 7 TuneUp, AppleTalk does not load into memory if it is off at
startup time. This requires you to turn AppleTalk on and then restart. This
is annoying at best, and thus was born AppleTalkOn. AppleTalkOn currently
occupies 20K or RAM while it runs.

 ApplicationStation 1.0 - Application Station (A/S) is a launching utility
that allows you to create groups containing as many applications and
documents as you wish. You can then perform individual application
launching, document lauching, or entire group launching. Documents may also
be either opened or printed. A/S goes a lot further than simple launching.
You can attach notes to any group, application, or document entry. You can
launch applications with selected documents, all documents, or no
documents. You can also choose any application or document and A/S will use
AppleEvents to locate the files in the Finder, or ask the Finder to get

System 7 that displays a digital clock in a small window. It has
intentionally few features. It displays the hour and minute, respecting the

Just the time. The motivation for creating attoClock was that the author
likes having a clock on his screen, but he doesn't want to give up a lot of

I have a 2MB Macintosh that is sometimes the only one I have around to
develop with.  MPW just doesn’t cut it with only 700k (which is all it gets
with 7.0). Bully gets me what I need by killing Finder and using its space.
With my setup, this can get me as much as 1.2MB. I built Bully with MPW
Pascal on my 2MB machine while running System 7. To use Bully Quit
everything you can or want to quit. Drop one application or document on
Bully. Limitations Bully does not open the document you dropped, but it
does find it’s application and get it launched for you.

System 8 look, perhaps. The DOSWasher application will toggle text
documents, dragged onto it, from MS-DOS to Macintosh formats and vice
versa. It's even possible to mix Mac and DOS formats in the same batch,

 When Apple first introduced System 7 at the 1989 Developer's Conference, it
included  something called the 'New Print Architecture'.  One of the really
cool parts of the NPA were 'Desktop Printers'.  This allowed you to have an
icon on your desktop which represented a particular printer. You could then
drag a document onto the particular printer icon, and it would print to
that printer.  Very useful when you have multiple Laserwriters, a Fax
Modem, Print to Disk utility, etc. Well, the NPA disappeared, and with it
'Desktop Printers'....In order to correct this MAJOR oversight, I wrote
DTPrinter which implements 'Desktop Printers' NOW under System 7.

Time bit in the parameter RAM. This is a great fix because now it doesn't
matter if you boot from different drives - the computer's PRAM knows if
you're in DST or not. Works fine with a Plus, which surprised me. Requires
System 7. Of course most of Arizona does not need this control panel, but
you can use it to learn the dates that the rest of the country changes on.

Desktop Deleter allows you to select and delete different types of desktop
database files from your hard drive. It also allows you to delete old-style
and foreign disk database files. Since System 7 does not use the old-style
Desktop files, you can free a large amount of space from your disks by
deleting  it. Desktop deleter can also be used to recover files lost due to
the System 7 tuneup bug. Desktop deleter may not fix file disappearance
problems, but will make the problems fixable with a disk repair utility.
This utility is one of the 7 Plus utilities by Robert Gibson. Requires

track of what files are on your disk. The problem is that this file never
gets cleaned up, When you remove files from your disk their entry is not
removed from the desktop file. So after much usage this file get
unnessarily large, I've seen them as large as 100K. DesktopFile Killer (DtF
Killer for short) removes this file. A new, smaller, one is then created.
To activate DtF Killer drag a disk icon to Dtf Killer's icon. DtF Killer
will then atempt to delete the desktop file for that disk.

to use larger fonts without cramping the list. Dialog View uses
undocumented system information. It has been tested with System 7.0.1 and
System 7.1, but it could break in the future. Displaying the real icons
requires querying the desktop database, which may cause noticeable delay

Manager is present. You should notice that Disk Charmer allows switching

"asynchronous" reads and writes from/to the disks. Macs with I/O chips
(IIfx, Quadra 800, 900, 950, and probably the Workgroup Servers) do not
slow down while reading the entire disk. This version of Disk Charmer was
written because the author wanted a drag & drop eraser with every possible

or disks into the application, “Drop Box-style”. Router will scan folders

a file server or on your local machine (using System 7's Personal File

DropWatch.  If you don't have ResEdit or don't feel comfortable using it,
then you'll have to find another utility.  Sorry. Once configure, DropWatch
will look at the number of files/folder contained in the watched folder
every few seconds.  If the number of things in the folder increases, you

wanted a $3000 not very accurate thermometer - just the thing to impress
your relatives or trigger your Macintalk/cell phone interface to

through their event loop, if they are in the background then they must rely
on the active application to pass spare time onto other applications
running under Multifinder or system 7+. PowerBook owners will see what
happens when the CPU drops into rest mode, the display will catch up with
this as soon as you move the trackball or hit a key. Both of these apps use
the GetNextEvent thingy in the event loop and should get the maximum number
of nullevents etc.

a fraction of a second will put the spinning globe away (or bring it back).
Earth 1.1 may be freely used and copied as long as it is not sold for
profit without my permission and any redistribution includes this file.

originating on Unix systems and converts the Linefeeds to Carriage Returns.
And it filters DOS files, throwing the Linefeeds away. To use ElfNiks

conflicts you may have experienced with other screen savers. The algorithm
I use is quite fast, but keep in mind that FaberZooms does not run as fast
as it could. The Mac host might have useful calculations to do, so I gently

You will then be presented with a Standard File dialog prompting you for an
application. The application you choose will then be launched and asked to
open the document. If you choose "Cancel" in this dialog, the default (i.e.
usual) application will be used. Felix requires System 7. To install it,
just drop it into your Control Panel folder and restart. Felix is very
small (about 12 kilobytes on disk and less than 512 bytes of RAM) so its
size shouldn't bother you too much.

modify file mappings, change the font string, change alias styles, change
information under the "get info" box, and add "Quit" commands to the

launched all the apps that you will need. I wrote Kill Finder because I
needed a quick and easy way to make the Finder quit. Some programs will

whenever a sleeping Mac is awakened. SpinD is a small FKey that spins down

 ResLogger - ResLogger is a UserLand Frontier Suite that compiles an outline
of named resources.  The primary use for this is as a tool for HyperCard
developers to keep track of XCMDs and XFCNs which may be located on several
disks - some even off-line. But it can be used for any named resource; snd
's being a logical candidate. ResLogger looks in the specified folder and
all subfolders, for the specified resource. It then makes a sorted list of
the resources. Each resource name is a heading (summit). The subheadings
are the paths to each file that contains that resource.

show up in the application menu and won't always end up in your face when
you quit other applications. It is a nifty blend of the features of a

 ToggleAT - is an FKEY for the Macintosh PowerBook. The intent of this FKEY
isto be able to avoid going to the Chooser to turn off AppleTalk every time
you take your PowerBook on the road since this requires a menu item, a
button click, an “Are you sure” dialog, an OK dialog and a close box.
Turning it back on requires a menu item, a button click, an OK dialog and a
close box. This is almost more trouble than it is worth. So, I wanted an
FKEY that allowed me to blast AppleTalk off with a single key combo and hit
the road. This is the ToggleAT FKEY. It comes as resource ID 12, which is

Previous versions allowed this with the ‘SHIFT+OPTION+COMMAND + open
Control Panel’. zapParam was written for those of you who want to wipe out
your parameter ram while running under system 7. zapParam is a control
panel and, of course, is runnable from anywhere on your hard disk just by
double-clicking on it. zapParam will not run under 6.0 or earlier. It runs

 Zync1.0a - Zync is a file synchronization application designed for
PowerBooks. Its purpose is to copy files back and forth between your
PowerBook and a desktop computer. Put Zync on either computer, then
configure it by selecting a "remote" and a "local" folder from the Setup
item in the Zync menu. In the Setup dialog you asked to enter information
regarding the "remote" volume. Zync can automatically mount and unmount the
